PROFITEK NEW RECORD FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES
2010/07/05
Vancouver – Profitek’s Support department has completed the Most Software updates ever in the Month of June 2010. This was as a result of the mandated updates from the credit card industry, effective July 1, 2010. All Point of Sale software packages that process credit cards were forced by the Credit Card Companies to undergo a stringent evaluation through a certified assessment authority in order to be certified and listed as compliant. This was a time consuming and expensive process for us as a software developer. Customers on support contracts with Profitek had access to the PA-DSS Software certified version 10.0 as part of their support packages. Customers off support needed to purchase software updates, the cost varying depending on the size of the system and number of years since installation. Older systems required some hardware updates in order to function properly with the new version 10.0 Profitek wishes to thank their loyal customers for their co-operation and understanding as these record numbers of updates were scheduled and completed. Customers in BC and Ontario had to deal with the new Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) with the same July 1, 2010 cut off date.
